What it was
From 13 March to 9 June 2026, machine maker Newgin ran a pachinko corner on the ground floor of the DiCE Osaka Dotonbori internet café. It was aimed at overseas visitors. According to trade newspaper Yugi Nippon:
- staff gave lectures in English, with Japanese-English lecture boards;
- ordering a collaboration menu item got you a pachinko experience of about 15 minutes;
- there was a team “battle mode” so groups could compete;
- the machine was Newgin’s smart pachinko e Hana no Keiji: Ōgon no Ichigeki (special edition).
Newgin’s research, quoted in the article, found that 80% of English-speaking visitors it interviewed knew about pachinko, 70% were “interested but couldn’t go in”, and 100% said they’d try it if someone explained it.
Status
Ended. The article said Newgin would consider rolling it out elsewhere or making it permanent. We’ll update this page if it returns.
